The Long Wait Continues

CD Projekt has been incredibly busy lately, juggling the behemoth that is Cyberpunk 2077, working on The Witcher 4: What we know about Ciri’s story, and other projects. Amidst all this, two long-simmering mystery games, codenamed Sirius and Hadar, remain shrouded in secrecy. While it’s easy to forget about them given their low profile, CD Projekt’s vice president of investor relations, Karolina Gnaś, recently reassured everyone that they are still happening – just not imminently.
When asked about Sirius, Gnaś alluded to the recent restructuring within CD Projekt, echoing previous statements made during layoffs: “changes were made to meet ‘the current needs of the project.'” She elaborated, “Pre-production is ongoing, and at this stage we are focused on testing different solutions and ideas we develop. This project is very different from our other projects because it’s focused on multiplayer. So there’s a lot of learning and testing in this particular one.”
Sirius first emerged in 2021, when CD Projekt announced that The Witcher 4: What we know about Ciri’s story would be developed by an external studio. While this initially sparked excitement for a new Witcher experience, the project later faced setbacks and was paused. In 2025, plans to maintain The Molasses Flood as an independent studio also changed.
Despite the limited information available on Sirius, even less is known about Hadar. This entirely new IP aims to deliver “something special,” but details remain scarce. It’s described as being similar in ambition to CD Projekt’s other titles, but not based on either The Witcher or Cyberpunk. However, it too has experienced delays and remains in the “concept phase.”

The good news is that Hadar seems to be gaining momentum. Gnaś revealed that the team currently consists of over 30 people, with plans to expand to 50 developers by the end of the year. “Right now the team is mostly focused on testing different approaches and ideas, and prototyping some gameplay elements,” she said. And then, with a touch of humor: “This is it.”

Frankly, I’m not overly concerned about the wait. While I’m genuinely curious about Hadar as an original IP, Sirius holds less appeal given my preference for single-player experiences and a desire to see Geralt back in action. However, CD Projekt has plenty of other exciting projects on the horizon, so if they want to take their time with these mystery games, that’s perfectly fine.

And if you’re feeling adventurous, you can even try using Witcher 3 console commands: Cheat death (though I wouldn’t recommend it!).
