Naughty Dog Isn’t Done With “The Last of Us,” New Projects on the Horizon

It seems like the clickers aren’t the only things that are relentless in “The Last of Us” universe. Neil Druckmann, co-president at Naughty Dog and creative director of the original games, has hinted that the studio isn’t finished exploring the post-apocalyptic world. While the HBO adaptation is nearing its conclusion after three seasons, Druckmann confirmed that Naughty Dog still holds the rights to the IP and has “a couple projects in the works.”

While Druckmann isn’t directly involved in the upcoming third season, starring Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, he emphasized that Naughty Dog maintains creative control over the franchise. “It’s important for us to note that as the creator of the games, Naughty Dog is still steward of this IP and even though this might be the end of this adaptation, we’re not done with The Last of Us,” Druckmann stated in an interview. “There’s a couple projects in the works that, when the time is right, I’m very excited to talk about.”

While many fans are eager for more Joel and Ellie adventures, the possibility of a third game raises some concerns. Some players felt that The Last of Us Part II concluded the story definitively, and revisiting that narrative could diminish its impact.
