Warhorse Studios — the developer behind Kingdom Come: Deliverance, its sequel, and an upcoming Lord of the Rings RPG — has been hit by a “serious” cyberattack. The company announced the news on its website.

The developer is currently working with cybersecurity experts to “secure its systems, investigate the incident, and assess its full impact.” Warhorse has also reached out to authorities to track down the culprits, who accessed company systems and data.
“This is a serious incident for Warhorse Studios and everyone affected,” said Martin Frývaldský, CEO of Warhorse Studios. “Our immediate priority is to secure our systems, establish the full extent of the breach, and take the necessary steps to protect our employees, partners, and community.

“We are dedicating the resources needed to address this situation and will communicate further information as soon as we responsibly can.”
Warhorse said it won’t comment further or conduct any interviews on the topic, so the extent of the attack isn’t clear at the moment. The studio will share updates as it can.
Warhorse Studios is currently working on a Lord of the Rings role-playing game, described as an “open world Middle-earth RPG,” and a new Kingdom Come game expected to be Kingdom Come: Deliverance 3 or a spinoff.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 launched last year to critical and commercial acclaim. IGN’s Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 review returned a 9/10. We said: “Armed with excellent melee combat and an exceptional story, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is one part sequel and one part coronation, bringing a lot of the original’s ideas to fruition.”
While Warhorse has enjoyed significant success with Kingdom Come: Deliverance, it has come under fire recently for its use of generative AI. Daniel Vávra, the previous director of Kingdom Come: Deliverance, stepped down from his role in February to focus on making a Kingdom Come: Deliverance movie.
This month, Japanese developer Capcom was also hit with a cyberattack which saw 196 customer accounts compromised. Retailer Playasia was also taken offline. These hacks coincide with what security experts have dubbed “Black October” in which AI agents have disrupted internet security. It isn’t clear if Capcom, Playasai, or the Warhorse hack is related to that.
