The internet loves to speculate, and when Amplitude Studios dropped the new trailer for Humankind 2, the speculation machine went into overdrive. Accusations of AI-generated content flew faster than arrows in a turn-based battle. Now, Amplitude is hitting back, armed with a behind-the-scenes look that proves (mostly) human hands were involved – plus a few feathered friends.
Behind the Scenes: Humans and Chickens Unite!

The new trailer for Humankind 2 was ambitious, blending live-action footage with stunning visuals to depict millennia of history. But some viewers felt something was “off,” leading to accusations that AI had been used to create parts of the trailer. Amplitude Studios is now vehemently denying these claims and has released a
Gamescom ONL”>new behind-the-scenes video to prove that, yes, real people (and at least five chickens) were involved in the creation process.
“To create the behind-the-scenes trailer, Amplitude Studios once again partnered with BETC, the creative agency behind several previous Humankind trailers,” the studio told Eurogamer. The video showcases the meticulous work that went into creating the trailer, from building practical sets to crafting intricate costumes and visual effects.
The Chicken Factor

While Amplitude is serious about defending its creative process, they’s also embracing the internet’s reaction. The phrase “Made by humankind” now seems to be a playful nod to the online chatter. While we appreciate the studio acknowledging the contributions of the chickens (we assume they provided moral support), it’s important to remember the hard work of the entire team.
Addressing the Concerns

The studio acknowledges that some viewers found certain elements of the trailer to be “uncanny,” perhaps due to exaggerated CGI or overly frantic camera movements. However, they insist that all visual effects were created using traditional methods by LiveFX. The new behind-the-scenes video provides a glimpse into the post-production process, showing how the CG scenes were integrated into the live-action footage.
A New Chapter for Amplitude
In 2024, Amplitude Studios underwent a significant change when they split from Sega”>separated from Sega as part of a broader restructuring within the company. This marks a new chapter for the studio, and we’ll be watching closely to see what they have in store for Humankind 2.
