FromSoftware’s *The Duskbloods*: Meet the Hilariously Deranged Cast

Get ready to dive into a world teeming with bizarre characters, because FromSoftware has just unveiled a first look at some of the playable heroes (and villains?) in their upcoming title, The Duskbloods. And let me tell you, they are… something else. We’re talking about a cast so delightfully unhinged that it’s impossible not to crack a smile.

Meet the Maniacs

There will be 10 playable characters at launch, but we got an early glimpse at six of them, and they are pure comedic gold. We have Albert, who looks like the most vanilla vampire you could possibly imagine. Then there’s “Bloodhand Jan,” rocking their pajamas for what I can only assume is a very important blood ritual. Trang Lanh seems to be the only remotely cool individual in this motley crew, but even she contributes to the overall absurdity.

And then we have Sniper Layla, who looks like they were ripped straight out of a Fallout game, complete with a missing chunk of their head. They’re clearly trying to project an “edgy” vibe, but ultimately just come across as endearingly dorky.

Hold on… a senator?! This world has elected officials? It has a GOVERNMENT?! Absolutely not! That throws everything we thought we knew about the lore right out the window. And Zork? Seriously? I have no words. ZORK?!

Look, I’m genuinely excited about this game. FromSoftware has always excelled at creating characters that are both fascinating and utterly bizarre. Elden Ring gave us giant jars filled with assorted human guts, a turtle pope, and the unforgettable Dung Eater. Dark Souls 3 introduced us to someone named “Pickle Pee,” for crying out loud! And who could forget Patches? I recently tried King’s Field IV a couple of weeks ago, and basically everyone I met was cursed and/or depressed. Remember Big Hat, Logan?! Even in Nightreign, I saw a lady in the lobby licking the wall.

I could go on listing dozens of other sicko FromSoftware characters, but I won’t take up your entire day with it. The point is that I think FromSoftware has truly outdone itself with this cast. Every time I look at that image, I burst out laughing at my desk, all alone. And I’m laughing right now. Zork? Really?

This game is going to rule. I can’t wait for the network test this weekend. I’m going to try out all six of these absolute maniacs and have a blast.
