During the Gamescom Opening Night Live, Dlala Studios, the brilliant minds behind Disney Illusion Island, unveiled their brand new game, “Murals,” a fresh take on classic children’s stories that promises to be both comedic and action-packed. Prepare for a PC exclusive launching in 2027!
A Fairytale World Turned Upside Down
“Murals” throws familiar tales like Hansel and Gretel, The Little Mermaid, and Rapunzel into an isometric action-adventure blender, resulting in something wonderfully bizarre. Forget the saccharine sweetness; expect a world where Rapunzel’s hair actively tries to kill her, and Sleeping Beauty is suffering from chronic insomnia after weeks of being awake.
Mystical Enhancements and Hilarious Combat
Players will take control of an unnamed hero navigating this twisted fairytale landscape. The hero can be enhanced with “Eeries,” described by the developers as “mystical, slightly very haunted, doo-dads and whatchamacallits.” These Eeries range from combat boosts – like Strength In Misery, which deals extra damage to enemies afflicted with status effects – to direct character enhancements. Thorny, for example, is a passive ability that allows the hero to deal damage back to attackers.
Developed and published by Dlala Studios, “Murals” represents the studio’s first original IP in over a decade. Known for their work on titles like Battletoads and the recent Disney Illusion Island, Dlala is clearly aiming to deliver a unique and memorable gaming experience with this new project.
