[Netflix’s visually stunning animated series is back for one last, epic ride.]
Get ready to sharpen your blades and prepare for a journey across the globe because Blue Eye Samurai, Netflix’s critically acclaimed animated masterpiece, is returning for its highly anticipated final season. Fans have been eagerly awaiting Mizu’s (Maya Erskine) continued quest for vengeance, and the wait is almost over!

A New Year, A Final Chapter
Originally released in November 2023 to widespread praise, Blue Eye Samurai quickly established itself as a must-watch series. The renewal was practically guaranteed after its debut, but fans have been patiently anticipating Mizu’s next move for nearly three years. Netflix delivered some fantastic news at Anime NYC on August 20th: Season two will be unleashed upon the world in January 2027, accompanied by a tantalizing 90-second teaser.

The teaser picks up directly after the season one finale, where the cunning arms dealer Abijah Fowler (Kenneth Branagh) manages to convince Mizu not to kill him. He offers his assistance in her journey to London, where she hopes to find the two remaining white men who might be her father. The trailer shows that their voyage is far from smooth sailing; a violent storm strikes their ship, sending sailors overboard. Mizu’s fury is palpable as she vows to continue her quest for revenge while steering the ship through the tempest.

The teaser reveals that Fowler has been released from confinement, holding a sword pointed at Mizu as she awakens on deck. The two appear surprisingly amicable in footage of Mizu’s arrival in Europe, which was showcased at the Annecy Festival in June. While we haven’t seen much of the allies Mizu left behind in Japan, an earlier preview confirmed that they are not forgotten. Mizu’s apprentice Ringo (Masi Oka) is searching for a new purpose, while Princess Akemi (Brenda Song) navigates the complexities of royal politics following the death of the Shogun.
The news gets even better! Netflix has confirmed that production is already underway for the series’ third and final season. This means we can hopefully avoid another three-year wait to witness the conclusion of Mizu’s compelling story. Get ready for an emotional rollercoaster as Blue Eye Samurai delivers its epic finale!
