Remember those legendary parties in the mid-2010s? There’s a good chance you experienced the infectious fun of “Fibbage,” the brainchild of Jackbox Games”>Jackbox Games. This digital party game has evolved over 12 years, and now, Jackbox is bringing the bluffing action to your board game nights with a card-based version.
The Essence of Fibbage, Now on Cards
The core gameplay that made the digital version so addictive remains intact. One player acts as the “revealer,” drawing a card and reading a prompt with a blanked-out section. The other players craft plausible answers to complete the prompt. Crucially, the revealer knows the correct answer and adds it to the mix. Players then vote on which answer they believe is the real one. Points are awarded based on correct guesses and whether others voted for your submission. The player with the most points after a set number of rounds (usually six) wins.

Knowing Jackbox, we can expect new prompt card packs, themed prompts, and even extra markers and boards to keep the fun flowing. The player count is easily scalable; just ensure you have enough writing implements and a way to track points.

A Minor Hiccup, Easily Solved
The transition to a physical game is remarkably faithful, with one minor caveat: the answer-writing process. While it works perfectly well, the revealer’s handwriting might become recognizable over time, especially in games with fewer players. This can lead to some players subconsciously favoring answers based on handwriting style.
I devised a simple workaround: have the revealer collect all submissions and transcribe them onto a separate sheet of paper. The group then votes on this list. It adds an extra step, but it effectively anonymizes the answers, preventing subconscious bias. This approach ensures that players focus on the content of the answers rather than trying to decipher handwriting.
Despite this minor detail, Fibbage remains a fantastic experience. It’s a faithful adaptation of a proven hit, and I highly recommend it for your next game night.
