Wardogs season 2 is bringing a new gambling feature to the early access sandbox shooter from developer Bulkhead, allowing players to place bets on their own in-game performance using in-game currency.

The Wager Vendor will let players wager their accumulated cash and add extra conditions—restrictions that raise potential payouts. Players who meet targets such as scoring enough “manfrags” or building sufficient infrastructure without breaking the chosen rules win; failing to do so means losing the bet.

The gambling system is one of several additions arriving when season 2 goes live, immediately following a game-wide progress wipe on October 15th. Other content includes new weapons and vehicles—a high-capacity submachine gun, molotov cocktails, and a tracked anti-aircraft gun—alongside building options such as machine gun nests and overhead shelters.

A thundery rainfall weather preset will also be available, reducing visibility to affect both snipers and pilots while masking footstep sounds in close-range encounters.

The ability to join servers with friends is not included in this update. Bulkhead said a dedicated friends queue option “is going to take a lot more time,” though a new ‘Squad Intent’ function lets squad leaders publicly mark their team as focused on specific roles—such as building or FOB—or as something like “noob friendly”—to help players find compatible squads.

Bulkhead is also addressing concerns about the Lonestar faction, known informally as the blue team. The developer has acknowledged for some time that Lonestar’s win percentages sit lower than other teams’, attributing this to less favourable spawn positions and “uniform visibility” rather than player skill.

To address this, Faction HQs are being relocated on the Bakurani map, Lonestar attire colours desaturated to blend with red and green teams’ camouflage. As part of what Bulkhead describes as a “social experiment” to reset the faction’s reputation, players will receive cash and XP bonuses throughout season 2.

The update also touches on how central money is to Wardogs’ design—everything costs currency while everything can generate it. Whether that system ultimately rewards or punishes depends partly on whether individual bets pay off.
