Remember all the buzz around Valve’s upcoming wireless VR headset, codenamed “Frame”? Well, it seems like some unboxing videos have surfaced online, giving us our closest look yet at this highly anticipated piece of hardware. Our own Jacob got his hands on a prototype back in November and was blown away by its capabilities. Now, these leaks offer a tantalizing preview for the rest of us.
A Closer Look: Design and Features
The videos, initially leaked as part of an Arm Steam Client update (and subsequently pulled by Valve – LINK_1: source), have been reposted on X by LINK_2: user. What we see is a headset that looks remarkably polished and premium. The design seems to prioritize comfort, with a large, cushioned rear plate that promises extended play sessions without fatigue.
One video showcases how easy it is to put on the Frame and adjust the headband, including swapping out the internal faceplate for glasses wearers. Another highlights the connection with the Steam mobile app for authentication. We also see a demonstration of the focus adjustment wheel, allowing users to fine-tune the image clarity.
The videos also show the controller pairing process and a brief tutorial on linking the Steam Machine. One particularly amusing clip features models wearing the VR headset in various unconventional ways – even as a shoulder bag! It’s clear that Valve is aiming for a user-friendly experience.
Release Date and Hype
While we always advise taking leaks with a grain of salt, these videos seem too well-produced to be anything other than close to the final product. Valve might not be thrilled about this early reveal, but as someone who wasn’t initially that excited about VR, I have to admit that these videos have piqued my interest. The hype is definitely starting to build.
As for a release date? We were previously told to expect the Steam Frame in the second half of 2026. With August nearing its end, it seems likely we’ll be hearing more concrete details soon. Even this VR skeptic is now kind of curious to try one out.
