Squadron 42, the singleplayer campaign of Cloud Imperium Games’ long-in-development Star Citizen, has received a Steam page featuring system requirements for PC.
The game’s release date is listed on Steam as Q2 2027, according to the report. The install size stands at roughly 150GB, and notably lacks any mention of ray tracing-capable GPUs or DirectX 12 support in its specifications.
A new trailer was also released alongside the page’s launch. Squadron 42 features a cast including Mark Hamill, Gary Oldman, Rhona Mitra, and Iain Reilly (known as the Onion Knight in Game of Thrones), among others who reportedly filmed most of their scenes years ago.

The game is directed by Chris Roberts, who in August discussed delays to the singleplayer component. Those delays drew skepticism partly due to recent controversy surrounding the project’s funding model, and because Star Citizen has accumulated so many release date changes over its development that they have become routine.
The trailer emphasizes military science-fiction tropes reminiscent of Top Gun-style action—a stylistic choice some may find familiar from the Wing Commander series. Squadron 42 is being positioned as a blend of those classic space-combat games and narrative-driven experiences like Half-Life 2.

The player character comes in both male and female versions, with the female option voiced by Alix Wilton Regan. The game’s cutscenes feature additional celebrity appearances including Gillian Anderson and Henry Cavill.
