Rockstar Games has confirmed that Grand Theft Auto 6 will not include a parody of Walt Disney World, one of Florida’s most iconic tourist destinations, following a direct inquiry from Game Informer about the game’s map. While the upcoming open-world title will still capture the “full Florida experience” through its fictional recreation of the state, Rockstar’s Jack McPherson clarified that Orlando’s theme parks and surrounding attractions will not appear in the game, which launches November 19 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
The confirmation addresses long-standing speculation about the geography of GTA 6’s sprawling map, which Rockstar has described as featuring the biggest game map the studio has ever created. The game is set in the fictional Vice City, a stand-in for Miami, located roughly four hours and 230 miles south of Orlando. That distance helps explain why the central Florida region, home to Walt Disney World, Universal Studios, SeaWorld, and the state’s “Space Coast” featuring Cape Canaveral’s historic launch pad, will not be represented in any form.
Answering the Map Questions
Game Informer asked Rockstar whether Florida’s central region, including Orlando and its tourist destinations, would be represented in GTA 6 in some form. McPherson said it would not, but he stressed that the studio remains committed to delivering the essence of the Sunshine State through other means. He explained the studio’s design philosophy behind choosing which real-world locations to include in the game.
“We have to constantly evaluate the diversity of landscapes, towns, structures, landmarks, vistas, plant species, rock formations and everything else before we work with design and narrative to distill a list down that best works with and serves the game’s needs. So, while we may not have those exact locations, everything we has is geared to getting that full Florida experience!”

The response underscores Rockstar’s approach of distilling real-world inspiration into a fictionalized world rather than recreating specific branded locations. The studio’s tradition of satirizing American culture has long included sharp jabs at theme parks, consumerism, and celebrity culture, leading many fans to expect a Disney-style parody in Vice City.
Fans Had Imagined a “Psycho Park”
The absence of a Disney parody came as a disappointment to some, though not everyone was surprised. Jay Klaitz, who famously portrayed the hacker Lester in Grand Theft Auto 5, had previously wondered in an interview whether Rockstar would create its own legally distinct version of Disney World that could be called “Psycho Park.” He noted that such a setting could offer rich satirical potential.
That would be interesting too if they sort of delve into that environment, Klaitz said, reflecting the community’s appetite for Rockstar’s signature brand of cultural commentary. The studio’s well of material for mocking theme parks runs deep, from ever-increasing ticket prices to the cost of buying literally anything inside the parks, as well as the so-called “Disney Adult” phenomenon. Even the most devoted fans acknowledge these pain points, and GTA 6 could still find ways to poke fun through its radio chatter and environmental details.

A Series Precedent
GTA 6 is not the first entry in the franchise to skip a visitable theme park spoof. Grand Theft Auto 5 was set in the Los Angeles area, where the original Disneyland park is located, yet it never featured a playable theme park parody. Instead, the game paid homage to Disney through a fictional film production company known as Fred’s Pictures, an obvious nod to the media conglomerate that demonstrates Rockstar’s preference for embedding references throughout the world rather than recreating real landmarks.
This approach suggests that while GTA 6 may not include a walkable Disney parody, players could still encounter nods to the entertainment giant through radio dialogue, in-game s, or other environmental Easter eggs. The studio’s history of layered satire means the “full Florida experience” could still contain plenty of pointed commentary on tourism and consumer culture.
Looking Ahead
Rockstar’s confirmation closes the loop on one of the most persistent questions surrounding GTA 6’s map, even as it leaves room for the studio to continue its tradition of cultural satire through subtler means. The game remains on schedule for its November 19 launch on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, with players now anticipating a Vice City that captures the spirit of Florida without stepping into Orlando’s theme park country.
As anticipation builds toward release, the community continues to dissect every detail of the game’s design, from its vast map to its satirical targets. Whether Rockstar chooses to weave Disney references into the game’s radio waves or leave them entirely to the imagination, one thing is clear: the full Florida experience is far from a simple one.
