Alan Wake 2, released in October 2023, has proven to be a commercial success, with sales exceeding 3 million copies. This achievement highlights the enduring appeal of Remedy’s unique blend of psychological horror and narrative depth.

Looking Ahead: Control: Resonant and Beyond

Jean-Charles Gaudechon, CEO of Remedy, highlighted the company’s focus on Control: Resonant in a statement accompanying the financial results. The game is now benefiting from increased marketing efforts, including its reveal trailer showcased during Sony’s June State of Play presentation and a second trailer unveiled at Summer Game Fest.

Control: Resonant has already garnered significant attention, with 1.5 million wishlists across PC and consoles. It currently ranks among the top three pre-ordered PlayStation games in key markets like the U.S., Germany, and Brazil. This strong pre-order performance indicates a high level of anticipation for the game’s release.

“We position Control: Resonant as a must-have day-one purchase while also building Control into a lasting franchise,” Gaudechon stated. “In a competitive autumn window, we believe the distinctiveness and quality of the game will make it stand out. Control: Resonant will be available across all major platforms from day one and is priced attractively for an AAA title. Combined with the release window becoming slightly less crowded since our original reveal, we remain confident in our positioning.”

Remedy’s Future: Max Payne Remakes and a New Project

Beyond Control: Resonant, Remedy continues its ambitious project of remaking Max Payne 1 & 2, which remain in active development. The company also has an unannounced “new project” that has now reached “production readiness.” While details are scarce, speculation is rife about whether this could be a new installment in the Alan Wake series or another expansion to the Control universe.

“We have two established own franchises, Control and Alan Wake, which are linked through the Remedy Connected Universe,” Gaudechon concluded. “Remedy will self-publish upcoming games, in which Remedy owns the IP. Growing and expanding the two franchises will be a key part of our future. In addition, we work with a partner franchise Max Payne, originally created by Remedy.”
