Infinity Ward’s chief has reported that bringing this year’s Call of Duty, Modern Warfare 4, to the Nintendo Switch 2 has been “pretty smooth.”
Announced this Thursday, Modern Warfare 4 marks the first Call of Duty title to launch on a Nintendo platform in more than a decade, debuting on the Switch 2.
With the addition of a brand‑new standalone extraction mode called DMZ, the Switch 2 release has captured the attention of fans and industry watchers alike. Confirming long‑standing rumors, this will be the first time since 2013’s Call of Duty: Ghosts on the Wii U that the franchise is playable on a Nintendo console, and Modern Warfare 4 will launch simultaneously across all other platforms.
Speaking to me ahead of the announcement, Infinity Ward studio head Jack O’Hara expressed his enthusiasm for the franchise’s return to Nintendo, noting the excitement among players who have long awaited a Call of Duty experience on a handheld system.
