Get ready to return to Hogwarts! HBO has just dropped a brand new trailer for “Harry Potter and The Philosopher’s Stone,” offering an enchanting glimpse into the upcoming eight-episode series. Set to premiere this Christmas on HBO and available for streaming on HBO Max, this adaptation promises to bring J.K. Rowling’s magical world to life in a whole new way.
A First Look at Hogwarts
The trailer showcases key moments from Harry’s first year at Hogwarts. We see young Harry Potter (Dominic McLaughlin) experiencing the iconic Sorting Hat ceremony and being sorted into Gryffindor. The budding friendship between Harry, Hermione Granger (Arabella Stanton), and Ron Weasley (Alastair Stout) is also highlighted, along with a thrilling Quidditch match. We also get to see Ron receiving his acceptance letter, a closer look at the eccentric Weasley family, and a less-than-impressed Severus Snape (Paapa Essiedu) encountering Harry.
More Magic Unveiled
The trailer doesn’t stop there! We witness Harry using the Cloak of Invisibility, a glimpse of the Mirror of Erised, and even the infamous Troll in the bathroom scene. John Lithgow shines as Albus Dumbledore, while Janet McTeer embodies Minerva McGonagall, and Nick Frost brings his signature charm to Rubeus Hagrid. There are also intriguing flashes of what appears to be a flashback featuring Harry’s parents, Lily and James Potter, running across a bridge, potentially offering our first look at the menacing Lord Voldemort.

The ensemble cast is truly remarkable. Rory Wilmot portrays Neville Longbottom, Lox Pratt embodies Draco Malfoy, Leo Earley takes on Seamus Finnigan, Elijah Oshin plays Dean Thomas, and the Harland brothers, Tristan and Gabriel, bring Fred and George Weasley to life. Based on J.K. Rowling’s beloved books, the series is written and executive produced by Francesca Gardine. Season 2 of “Harry Potter” begins filming this fall, with Kit Harrington stepping into the role of Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher Gilderoy Lockhart (replacing Nicholas Hoult).
