Mistfall Hunter Community Desperate for Duos Mode, But Will Devs Deliver?

Extraction brawlers are all the rage right now, and Mistfall Hunter, the latest offering from Bellring Games, is no exception. Launched on PC, PlayStation , and Xbox Series X|S on July 29th, the game has quickly garnered a dedicated following. However, one persistent request echoes throughout the community: the addition of a duos mode.

The Duos Dilemma

From the very beginning, even during its open beta phase, players have been clamoring for Bellring Games to introduce a two-player option. The game’s official subreddit is filled with posts from players pleading for this feature. One Redditor, broman510, eloquently put it: “I need duos. In trios, it feels like one of us is constantly outnumbered and overwhelmed.”

Another player, Matta114, expressed a similar sentiment: “We need duos. I’d rather have unbalanced gameplay with a friend than deal with random teammates who might run off in the opposite direction every game.” The desire for a reliable teammate is clearly a major driving force behind this request.

The core issue seems to be the limitations of queuing into trios with just a friend. While it allows for playing together, it introduces the unpredictable element of a random third player. This can lead to communication breakdowns, unreliable teammates abandoning fights, and even loot theft – as highlighted by Redditor kennypeace: “The lack of communication from randoms, people flaking out in fights, and the constant threat of someone stealing all the loot is unbearable. Trios are miserable right now.”

Developer Response and Community Frustration

Unfortunately, the community’s pleas may not be answered anytime soon. Back in March 2026, Bellring Games took to X to share that it currently has “no plans” to add a duos mode. While acknowledging that it’s a “highly requested feature,” the studio cited concerns about matchmaking efficiency and balance issues. “It is difficult to ensure balanced gameplay for duos while also maintaining balance for trio and solo modes,” they explained, adding that they are prioritizing other areas of development.

This response has only fueled further frustration within the community. Redditors have even created a dedicated space in the Discord server to “make a suggestion for duo queues,” highlighting the unwavering desire for this feature. The lack of communication from the developers regarding a potential change leaves many players feeling unheard.

A Promising Game, A Persistent Problem

Despite the ongoing debate surrounding the duos mode, Mistfall Hunter remains a compelling experience. Its unique blend of souls-like combat and extraction shooter elements creates a truly engaging gameplay loop. It’s even made me a believer in extraction games as a whole. However, the absence of a dedicated duos option continues to be a point of contention for many players, leaving them hoping that Bellring Games will eventually reconsider their stance.
