A massive new dump of leaked Grand Theft Auto data has surfaced online, offering the most detailed look yet at Rockstar Games’ unfulfilled plans for a Liberty City expansion in Grand Theft Auto 5 as well as an early prototype build of Grand Theft Auto 6 dating back to 2015. The cache, which reportedly totals around 190 gigabytes of content, was posted publicly this week after years of circulating privately among trusted community members and insiders, prompting fans to sift through the trove and surface some of its most significant discoveries.
The leak represents a major escalation from previous GTA disclosures. While earlier leaks in 2022 revealed early gameplay footage of the still-in-development sequel before the leaker was arrested by police, those files largely remained confined to closed circles. This latest release makes virtually the entire cache accessible to anyone with an internet connection, and gaming journalists and content creators have already begun cataloging its contents.
A Liberty City Expansion That Never Was
The most exciting discovery among the leaked files is evidence that Rockstar once intended to bring all of Liberty City into Grand Theft Auto 5, or possibly GTA Online. According to an analysis by YouTuber TJGM, audio-related assets and code embedded in the data indicate that the studio was actively developing a full-scale expansion for the game’s northeastern United States setting.
While rumors of such a project had circulated for years—and a screenshot from a Rockstar employee’s portfolio appeared to show GTA 4’s Liberty City running on Grand Theft Auto 5’s RAGE engine—this leak provides the strongest confirmation yet that the expansion was genuinely in development. The presence of functional code and audio assets suggests this was more than an early experiment, lending credibility to long-standing speculation about Rockstar’s ambitions for the area.
Canceled Content From Agent Trevor to Zombie Missions
Beyond Liberty City, fans have uncovered mission names and assets tied to a canceled single-player expansion known as Agent Trevor. The project would have followed protagonist Trevor Philips working alongside the government, featuring a space station, luxurious mansions, jetpacks, and other over-the-top set pieces. Some of this content was likely repurposed into later GTA Online updates such as the Doomsday Heist, but much of it had never been publicly shared before now.
The leak also contains references to Michael’s long-canned zombie-themed expansion, which reportedly would have allowed players to control Michael’s teenage offspring. Additional files reveal beta vehicles and unfinished vehicle assets, including what appears to be a nearly complete prototype that has excited the modding community.
A 2015 Prototype of GTA 6’s World
Perhaps the most striking find is an early build of what appears to be Grand Theft Auto 6’s full map, created around 2015 based on data embedded in the files. Despite being over a decade old, community members comparing leaked locations against areas featured in GTA 6’s recent extended reveal have noted that surprisingly little has changed beyond visual improvements and added detail.
If accurate, this would be a fascinating glimpse at how Rockstar prototypes its massive open worlds during development. The leaks also suggest we’ve yet to see a large portion of GTA 6’s full map when it launches.
Gaming community analysis
The prototype appears to have been built and tested using Grand Theft Auto 5’s engine, offering insight into Rockstar’s development methodology for its sprawling open worlds. For players hoping to experience Vice City unspoiled before launch, experts advise steering clear of the leaks currently circulating on social media platforms.
Looking Ahead
With Take-Two Interactive’s legal teams expected to move quickly against the leaked material, much of what is being shared today may not remain online for long. Regardless, Grand Theft Auto 6 has firmly established itself as one of the most leaked video games in history, joining a growing list of disclosures that includes the 2022 leaks and this summer’s Cyberleak gameplay videos.
The revelations arrive just weeks before GTA 6 launches on November 19 for Xbox Series X|S and PS5. Given the game’s unprecedented level of public scrutiny, observers expect additional leaks to surface in the run-up to release despite Rockstar’s ongoing efforts to contain them.
