Jin Sakai Joins the Fray: “Ghost of Yōtei: Most Wanted” Revealed!

Hold onto your katanas, because Jin Sakai is back and ready to rumble in a brand-new mode coming to Ghost of Yōtei! During yesterday’s State of Play showcase, Sucker Punch revealed “Ghost of Yōtei: Most Wanted,” a roguelike twist on the already incredible action experience. And yes, that means you can finally play as Jin Sakai himself!

Enter the Bounty Board

“Most Wanted” throws you into a series of escalating challenges where you’ll choose from four playable characters – Atsu, Oyuki, Nagato, and the man himself, Jin Sakai – and tackle bounties with increasing difficulty. The core gameplay loop revolves around earning perks and upgrades to build out your character and become an unstoppable force.

“We wanted ‘Most Wanted’ to feel like a natural extension of Ghost of Yōtei’s combat,” explained the development team. “It’s about taking familiar weapons and systems and turning them into something fresh, allowing players to experiment with different characters and builds to find that perfect loadout.”

Gameplay Breakdown: Bounties, Perks, and Power-Ups

Each run starts by selecting a bounty from the bounty board. These bounties pit you against waves of enemies and minibosses, culminating in a showdown with one of the Yōtei Six. As you conquer each wave, you’re rewarded with perks that help you craft powerful builds to take down the final boss. You can replay bounties at increasing difficulty levels, pushing your skills to the limit against Lord Saito himself.

Beyond the runs themselves, you’ll earn Mon, which can be spent on new techniques, weapon upgrades, charms, and even unlockable characters. And here’s a sweet bonus: any cosmetics you earn in “Most Wanted” will also be available in the main game, so you can rock those looks whether you’re playing Atsu’s original quest or diving into the new Echoes of Sekigahara expansion.

Meet the Warriors: Atsu, Oyuki, Nagato, and Jin

Once you’ve unlocked all four characters, the real fun begins. Each character starts with a katana, but also brings their own unique weapons, abilities, Ultimates, and Kill Streaks. Experiment to find your favorite playstyle!

• Atsu: The starting character wields dual katanas and utilizes Ghost Tools like Metsubushi (Blinding Powder) and a Blind Bomb. Her Ultimate, “Call of the Pack,” summons wolves to tear through enemies, while her Kill Streak, Onryō’s Howl, terrifies foes and forces them to flee.
• Oyuki: This skilled warrior fights with the kusarigama, kunai, and the tanegashima rifle. Her Ultimate, “Shadow Killer,” unleashes smoke for quick assassinations, and her Kill Streak, Shadow Shinobi, summons a Nine Tails ally to fight alongside her.
• Nagato: Armed with the yari spear, tanzutsu pistol, yumi long bow, and hankyu short bow, Nagato is a versatile fighter. His Ultimate, “Gambler’s Mark,” guarantees a headshot on two enemies, while his Kill Streak, Blast Arrow, refills Concentration and grants an explosive arrow.
• Jin Sakai: The legendary hero of Ghost of Tsushima makes his entrance! Jin brings all four of his signature stances to the fight, allowing you to exploit enemy weaknesses. He starts with a Sticky Bomb and hankyu, and his Ultimate is the devastating “Dance of Wrath” from Ghost of Tsushima, disarming multiple enemies. His Kill Streak? Of course, it’s Ghost Stance, which terrifies enemies and allows for one-hit kills.

Craft Your Destiny: Perks and Upgrades

The real key to mastering “Most Wanted” lies in the perk system. As you progress through a run, you’ll choose from a wide array of perks that enhance your weapon mastery, gear loadouts, summons, parries, and survivability. These perks are the cornerstone of crafting unique builds, leading to unexpected combinations and exciting discoveries.

Complete Edition: Everything You Need

For those who already own Ghost of Yōtei, a Complete Edition Upgrade is available for $14.99. This upgrade grants access to “Ghost of Yōtei: Most Wanted” and “Ghost of Yōtei: Echoes of Sekigahara” on October 1, along with instant access to all content previously included in the Digital Deluxe Edition and the Charm of Hokkyokusei.

If you’ll be jumping into Ghost of Yōtei for the first time, the Complete Edition is available digitally for $69.99. This includes the original game, the online co-op mode Ghost of Yōtei Legends, all content from the Digital Deluxe Edition, and access to “Most Wanted” and “Echoes of Sekigahara.” A physical edition will also be available on October 1.
