The creative possibilities within Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream are truly mind-boggling. From bizarre celebrity cameos to player-created worlds that defy logic, the game offers a unique canvas for self-expression. Whether it’s Bethesda Game Studios head Todd Howard seemingly everywhere (and in leather jackets!), or my own… let’s just say “experimental” creations, every island is a window into the imagination of its creator.

But some players take their dedication to another level. They meticulously craft entire worlds within Living the Dream, pouring countless hours into recreating beloved games with incredible accuracy. Redditor u/sokas98 is one such artist, and their recent creation has left the internet speechless.

Sokas98 has painstakingly recreated Onett, the charming hometown from the SNES classic Earthbound, within Living the Dream. The attention to detail is simply astounding. Sokas98 masterfully translates Earthbound’s 2D pixel art into a vibrant 3D space, preserving the game’s distinctive 16-bit aesthetic while adding a charming “pop-up book” feel.

From the iconic red delivery trucks to the seedy arcade where Frank lurks, ready to assault Ness with his skateboard, every element is meticulously rendered. We even see a cameo from King, Ness’s loyal dog, and Professor Adonut’s Sky Runner can be spotted in the trees behind Ness’s house. The level of dedication is truly remarkable.

“How is this even possible?” one commenter asked, a sentiment echoed by many. “Lots of [patience] and powering through haha, but it’s worth it, having a blast making this,” Sokas98 replied. They also mentioned that there’s “still a lot I wanna do” and plan to share future updates on the project in the Earthbound subreddit.

Earthbound is one of those timeless classics that truly doesn’t need a remake. However, if Nintendo were ever inclined to revisit it, they should seriously consider involving Sokas98 in the art direction. The passion and skill on display here are undeniable.
