Strauss Zelnick, chief executive of Take-Two Interactive, the publisher behind GTA 6, previously noted that PC was becoming an important platform for the company. He said sales of the publisher’s PC games had increased dramatically over the years.
Explaining why GTA 6 won’t launch on PC at the same time as its console version, former Rockstar producer John Ricchio theorized that a console-first development approach would give Rockstar more room to build a PC version later. Because consoles have limited hardware, he suggested it is easier for a studio to expand a game to run on more powerful PC hardware than to scale it back to fit console constraints.
Rockstar has not officially announced anything about GTA 6 on PC. The game currently lists only PS5 and Xbox Series X|S as its platforms. Xbox also recently clarified that GTA 6 will not be streamed to PC through Xbox Cloud Gaming, despite earlier reports that Microsoft had secured exclusive streaming rights.
