Beta Access: Early Bird Gets the Worm (and Exclusive Perks)
The early access period kicks off August 21st and runs through August 25th for those who preorder Modern Warfare 4. However, don’t fret if you haven’t preordered yet! The open beta is completely free and accessible to everyone from August 28th to September 1st. Just be aware that an “online multiplayer subscription” might be required to jump into the action.
Unfortunately, Switch 2 owners will have to wait a bit longer, as preorders for the console don’t begin until August 26th, making early access beta participation impossible on that platform.
What’s Inside the Beta? A Glimpse of Mayhem
The Modern Warfare 4 multiplayer beta is packed with content! Expect a diverse selection of maps and modes, along with a “wide selection” of playable characters to customize your loadout. The beta boasts “as many as” 19 different weapons to master, alongside fan-favorite modes like Search & Destroy and Kill Block. New players can also utilize the Training Mobility Course to hone their skills before hitting the front lines.
On August 24th, Activision unveiled the specifics of each weekend’s beta offerings, including campaign content for the first time! This is a massive opportunity to experience a taste of the narrative and gameplay that awaits in the full release.

Open Beta (August 28-September 1)

- Ground War: Combat Outpost, Imjin Farmland & Wolves Stadium
- Warzone: Resurgence Zodiac
- Multiplayer modes: Hijack, Combat Outpost, Team Deathmatch, Domination, Hardpoint, Kill Confirmed, Inflation, Search and Destroy, Kill Block – 10v10 and 3v3 Gunfight, Mobility Course
Beyond the core gameplay, the beta includes a “wide variety” of tactical equipment, lethal devices, field upgrades, perks, and killstreaks to experiment with. Players who preorder the Vault Edition of Modern Warfare 4 will also have access to exclusive operators and weapons during the beta period.
