I’ve been chasing sub-1% low frame consistency for competitive titles and want to dig past the marketing on ReBAR/SAM. When the full VRAM window gets mapped into the CPU address space, how much of the stutter reduction actually comes from the GPU’s DMA engine batching larger bus transactions versus just avoiding the 2GB window boundary faults? Has anyone measured whether the latency benefit holds on PCIe 3.0 with a Gen4 card, or is the real-world gain almost entirely dependent on hitting Gen4 link width and stability?

For engine-level implementation, how are you handling memory allocation so the frame graph actually stays inside the mapped region during heavy asset streaming, or does the driver transparently page data back to system RAM and tank performance mid-session? And practically—on the benchmark side, what’s your methodology for isolating ReBAR gains from driver versions and CPU cache effects? AMD’s SAM and NVIDIA’s equivalent behave differently; has anyone cross-tested the same build across both stacks to see which delivers more consistent frame times under the same workload?
