Miami Vice started life as a legendary television series that ran on NBC from 1984 to 1989. It was created by Anthony Yerkovich and executive-produced by Michael Mann. Philip Michael Thomas and Don Johnson originated the roles of Tubbs and Crockett, respectively. The series heavily inspired Rockstar’s Grand Theft Automat: Vice City.
Mann revisited Miami Vice in 2006 with a modernized film reboot, this time casting Jamie Foxx and Colin Farrell as Tubbs and Crockett. Kosinski’s reboot, in contrast to Mann’s film, will return the franchise to its roots in ’80s Miami.
