A newly released model viewer has unlocked essentially every 3D model from the original Final Fantasy VII (1997), giving fans the ability to rotate, inspect, and animate the game’s assets in a fully three-dimensional space—and in doing so, it has thrust one of the franchise’s most meme-famous creatures back into the spotlight. That creature is the small, hip-swinging frog long known to players as “Touch Me,” and thanks to the tool, it can now be admired in all its polygonal glory.
The viewer, which has been circulating among Final Fantasy enthusiasts, grants access to a near-complete library of the 1997 role-playing game’s 3D models. Players can hop into just about any model in the game, including full summon animations, and spin them around freely within a 3D environment. Beyond characters and summons, the tool also exposes several of the game’s map screens, allowing users to compare how the title presents a location on screen against the actual underlying meshes that make it up.
