Get ready to relive the adventure! Square Enix has officially unveiled the release date for Final Fantasy VII Revelation, along with a tantalizing trailer showcasing the eight playable characters that will form your party: Cloud, Tifa, Barret, Red XIII, Yuffie, Cait Sith, Vincent, and Cid. The trailer offers glimpses of exhilarating gameplay, including team-up abilities like Vincent transforming into his Galian Beast form to charge into enemies alongside Red XIII, while Tifa and Yuffie unleash a devastating dive kick/spinning shuriken combo from above.

A World Reborn: Exploring Gaia with PS1 Charm

During a recent presentation, FF7 director Naoki Hamaguchi provided an extended look at the game’s raw gameplay, focusing on traversing the expansive world map. True to its PlayStation 1 roots, players will pilot the Highwind across the world of Gaia, freely exploring and charting their own course. Upon reaching a location of interest, you can assemble your party from any of the eight playable characters and instantly parachute down to the surface.

The Highwind soars over a beautifully rendered version of Gaia, harking back to the original PlayStation 1 game while showcasing modern graphical fidelity.

The demo also featured a side quest in Gongaga centered around Sotetsu, a character previously encountered in a Final Fantasy VII Rebirth side quest. Yuffie’s familiarity with Sotetsu allows for a unique interaction, hinting that the outcome of certain missions may vary depending on the characters selected for the task.

Alongside the April 8 release date announcement, the Steam page for Final Fantasy VII Revelation has dropped some intriguing hints about post-launch content, including listings for story expansions featuring two key characters. This promises even more adventures and character development after the initial release.
