The cast of Critical Role continues to expand within Final Fantasy VII Revelation. During a panel at New York Comic Con, Square Enix announced that Marisha Ray will voice Polydroid Shiva, a new version of the iconic ice summon in the third installment of the remake trilogy.

Ray joins fellow Critical Role co-stars Matt Mercer, who voices Vincent Valentine, and Travis Willingham, who takes over the role of Sephiroth from Tyler Hoechlin.

A clip Square Enix posted on Instagram offers a sneak peek at Ray’s work. It reveals that she will portray Polydroid Shiva, a digitized version of the summon rather than its in-combat form. The character appears to run the Gold Saucer’s snowboarding mini-game, confirming that the fan-favorite feature from the 1997 original will be playable.

The clip shows Polydroid Shifa urging Vincent to show off his snowboarding skills to prove himself. Ray and Mercer are married, and the two display obvious chemistry during the recording.

During the panel, Mercer revealed that he was initially worried Ray had been hired through family connections, but said the team told him they had no idea she was his wife. “That’s right, you earned that, baby,” Mercer shouted to Ray, who was seated in the front row.

The panel focused heavily on the cast and their experience wrapping up work on the trilogy. Another clip from Square Enix offers a look inside the final recording sessions for the game. Both Briana White, who voices Aerith, and Britt Baron, who voices Tifa, are brought to tears, with Baron calling it “the role of a lifetime.”

The conclusion to the trilogy is set to release on April 8, 2027. Square Enix has surprised fans by playing with the original game’s plot, and the team remains tight-lipped about any potential final twists.
