The fighting game world is about to get a little smaller, and a lot more crossover-heavy. SNK has confirmed that Reina, the fierce competitor who debuted in Tekken 8, is coming to Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves as a playable character. The revelation arrived via a short teaser trailer released by the official SNK account, adding yet another guest fighter to the roster of this long-running franchise’s lone single-player-driven entry.

The announcement lands on the heels of two additional DLC reveals for the game, extending an ongoing wave of cross-franchise talent that has reshaped how players think about modern fighting rosters. As the trailer played out, fans were treated to a tantalizing glimpse of the Mishima heir making her way toward South Town.

A Favor Returned

Reina joins an eclectic lineup of guest characters who have already made their home in City of the Wolves, including Street Fighter‘s Chun-Li, Fist of the North Star’s Kenshiro, and soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo. She is believed to be the daughter of Heihachi Mishima, the notorious Tekken patriarch known for his fondness of launching his own children into active volcanoes — a backstory that makes her search for a new home perhaps understandable.

The crossover carries a nice symmetry. Tekken 7 previously featured Geese Howard, one of the primary antagonists of Fatal Fury itself, as a guest fighter, and this latest move represents Bandai Namco returning the courtesy in kind. While Fatal Fury has embraced the guest character trend with gusto — Ronaldo’s diving prowess remains a point of contention among purists — Reina feels like a more natural fit for the game’s gritty world.

“A wonderful update to the classic SNK style of one-on-one combat that feels similar to Street Fighter 6, but just different enough to exist as an alternative to it.”

What We Know About Reina

The teaser trailer deliberately withholds much detail, leaving players curious about how her signature Mishima School fighting style will translate into City of the Wolves’ more grounded, narrative-driven combat system. What is clear is that she arrives alongside two other additions: Manjiro Sano and Ken Ryuguji, both from the manga series Tokyo Revengers, who were unveiled in trailers released the same day as Reina’s reveal.

Sano and Ryuguji serve as the fourth DLC character under Season Pass 3, and both are scheduled to arrive in South Town on October 22. That places them ahead of Reina, who is expected to hit City of the Wolves in December — following Laocorn, slated for November release.

Eagle-eyed players had already predicted the inclusion of Reina before any official confirmation, noting that the purple color scheme of Season 3 aligned neatly with her established aesthetic. In the teaser itself, she appears only as a silhouette set against the background, offering tantalizing but incomplete clues about her design and moveset.

A Divisive Powerhouse

In Tekken 8, Reina is widely regarded as a hard character to master. Her diverse moveset is tempered by weak low attacks, though advanced players compensate with her unbreakable throws and intricate stance changes. The numbers reflect both her appeal and her difficulty curve: the character’s pick rate in Tekken 8 Ranked is 3.1%, and she holds a modest 46% win rate.

Whether she proves equally deep and divisive within City of the Wolves remains to be seen, as that game operates on a fundamentally different design philosophy from its fighting-game counterpart. The Sano announcement had sparked debate in the Fatal Fury community about guest fighters, raising questions about how crossover talent should integrate into SNK’s flagship narrative mode.

Looking Ahead

With Reina penciled in for December, City of the Wolves continues its steady run of guest DLC characters that has both energized and divided its player base. As more details emerge about her moveset and how it adapts to the game’s unique system, fans will be watching closely to see whether the Mishima heir can carve out a legitimate place in South Town — hopefully avoiding any sudden detours through an active volcano.
