The wait is officially over: The remake of the anime, Dragon Super Beerus, finally has a release date. The long-awaited next entry in the Dragon Ball franchise will debut on Fuji TV on Oct. 11. Fans in the US will be able to catch a world-premiere screening of the first episode on Oct. 8 at New York Comic Con 2026, during the Dragon Ball Super: Beerus special panel.
One of the biggest questions surrounding this remake was how much of the existing Dragon Ball Super canon it would cover. The answer? A significant chunk! Based on the footage shown in the trailer, Dragon Ball Super: Beerus will tackle the God of Destruction Beerus arc, the Resurrection ‘F’ arc, and the God of Destruction Champa arc (note that the names for the story arcs may vary between the manga and anime). Essentially, it will cover the first two Dragon Ball Super movies (Battle of Gods and Resurrection ‘F’) and a substantial portion of the original anime series.
Fresh Sounds, Familiar Energy
While fans will undoubtedly miss the iconic opening theme of the original anime, “Chosetsu Dynamic!”, the new songs from these young Japanese artists convey the same sense of energy and excitement. “Onogami” by Megatera – Zero and “Kan Peki No Peki” by VK Blanka are set to become instant classics.
Eagle-eyed fans have already noticed some intriguing differences between this remake and previous iterations. In scenes depicting Goku’s battle against Frieza, the protagonist uses his Super Saiyan God form before transforming into Super Saiyan Blue – a detail absent from the Resurrection ‘F’ movie. These subtle changes are sure to spark lively discussions among dedicated Dragon Ball enthusiasts.
A Clash of Titans?
Interestingly, Dragon Ball Super: Beerus is set to air on Fuji TV in the same time slot as One Piece. The anime based on Eiichiro Oda’s manga has recently switched to a seasonal release schedule, with 26 episodes set to air every year. It’s possible, then, that the two anime will alternate on Fuji TV, marking a significant shift from the past, when both were ongoing weekly productions.
