Crypto is getting a rework in Season 31 of Apex Legends. In lieu of a new Legend (the last of which was Sparrow in S25), the hacker will have a more aggressive kit to make better use of his drone and get into the fight faster alongside his teammates.

Two other Legends—Revenant and Lifeline—are also receiving buffs that bring both of them closer to the classic versions of their abilities, including the revival of Lifeline’s shield.

Joining a long line of older Legends getting a tune up, Crypto is receiving a few upgrades this Apex Legends season, which the developers stated was to shift him “from passive drone-camping to more active intel gathering.”
Crypto’s kit is getting two major changes. The first is to his drone, nicknamed Hack, as it can now be picked up and redeployed with less downtime. This decrease in waiting makes it far easier for Crypto players to swap between getting information from their drone and engaging in fights with their team.

The drone also has a new Sentry Mode, so it can be placed strategically to scan enemies that get too close, giving Crypto even more opportunities to gain intel.
Lifeline’s shield is back

Revenant and Lifeline are, to a lesser degree, getting buffs at the start of Season 31. Both Legends are going back to basics in their design philosophies.
For Lifeline, this means the return of her iconic revive shield for allies, alongside a shorter Ult cooldown, and more mobility to keep up with faster Legends like Alter and Octane. The shield is one of the most exciting updates to Apex Legends, though it may only be a smaller note in the patch notes. Having the ability to better protect teammates—and strategize when to best use that vital cover—added a deeper dimension to Lifeline’s gameplay that’s been missing for too long.
Revenant, who received a major change a few seasons back, is being tweaked towards his old playstyle, which was geared more towards full-send, aggressive pushes against enemy squads. That style is making a return in S31 as Rev’s ultimate cooldown is shortened alongside his tactical. New upgrades will also increase Rev’s power, allowing for more opportunities to silence enemies or refresh abilities.
