[Focus Entertainment is bringing the heat to the open-world racing scene with a new partnership that’s sure to get your engines revving!]
Get ready to tear up the French Riviera! Focus Entertainment has announced a major publishing deal with independent studio Maverick Games for their upcoming title, Clutch. This collaboration marks Focus Entertainment’s first foray into the open-world racing genre and promises a unique blend of circuit racing, street hustling, and over-the-top action.
A Dream Team Takes the Wheel
“At Focus, we seek out creators who are pushing boundaries within their respective genres,” stated Vincent Chataignier, Deputy CEO of Focus Entertainment. “Mike Brown and his team at Maverick Games are recognized as leading voices in racing game development, and Clutch perfectly embodies the creative ambition that Focus Entertainment aims to support.”
Mediterranean Mayhem: What to Expect from Clutch
Clutch is slated for release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC in early-to-mid 2027. If you haven’t already caught IGN’s previous coverage of Clutch, prepare yourself for a visually stunning racing experience set against the backdrop of the iconic French Riviera. Think Monaco, Cannes, and Saint-Tropez, all rendered with breathtaking detail.
The game isn’t just about speed; it’s about style and customization. Expect a deep level of vehicle modification options, allowing you to create your dream ride. And for those who like their racing with a dash of chaos, Clutch will feature an array of crazy car-based gadgets, including a grappling hook that lets you slingshot your way through tight corners. This is Fast & Furious meets Gran Turismo!
From Amazon to Focus: A Change of Scenery for Clutch
Maverick Games, founded in 2022 by veterans from Forza Horizon developer Playground Games, had initially partnered with Amazon to publish Clutch. However, Amazon made the difficult decision to back out of publishing the project earlier this year, citing a “strategic evolution.” Thankfully for fans, Focus Entertainment is now stepping in to ensure that Clutch reaches its full potential.
