Boulies EP200 Review: Surprisingly Comfortable Budget Gaming Chair?
===CONTENT BODY===
Finding a comfortable gaming chair that doesn’t break the bank can feel like searching for a unicorn. The market is flooded with cheap, generic options that often promise ergonomic bliss but deliver back pain instead. Enter the Boulies EP200, a chair that boldly claims to offer Herman Miller-esque style at a fraction of the price – usually around $209 USD when on sale (which seems to be always). But does it live up to the hype? Let’s dive in.
First Impressions and Setup
The Boulies EP200 arrived in fairly basic cardboard packaging. Assembly was straightforward, following the included instructions without any major hiccups. The result is a chair with a distinctly “office chic” aesthetic, featuring a mesh back and a light grey color scheme that would look equally at home in a corporate office or a dedicated gaming setup. It’s surprisingly versatile.
My initial reaction was positive. However, I did notice a slight perforation in the back mesh. While initially concerning, it hasn’t worsened over time, suggesting decent durability. Fingers crossed it stays that way!
Ergonomics: A Mixed Bag
The EP200 offers a range of adjustments, but with some limitations. The lower cushion slides forward and backward, but doesn’t tilt. The backrest tilts, but not fully. The headrest is adjustable in angle, and the armrests raise, but don’t pivot. There’s also an adjustable lumbar support, but its fixed position means it only works for those with a specific body type.

While I, being of average height and build, found the chair comfortable enough, a taller individual I tested it with struggled to find an ideal position. The fixed headrest and lumbar support simply didn’s work for their body size. Even after adjusting the seat forward, they couldn’t achieve optimal comfort.

Comfort and Performance
Despite the limited adjustability, the EP200 is surprisingly comfortable. The generously padded seat provides excellent cushioning, preventing leg and sit bone fatigue during long gaming sessions. I’ve happily streamed in this chair with my green screen setup without any issues.

The ability to slide the seat forward allows for a comfortable “gremlin” leg-up position, which I personally appreciate. While not perfect, the overall comfort level is impressive for a chair in this price range.

The Verdict
The Boulies EP200 is easily the most comfortable chair I’ve encountered in its price bracket. It’s a solid choice for those with an average build and budget-conscious gamers. However, individuals with specific ergonomic needs or significantly different body types might find the limited adjustability restrictive.
Who Should Buy It?
- ✅ You’re on a budget: At $210, it’s an incredible value.
- ✅ You’re “average”: This chair works well for those with standard body proportions.
Who Should Avoid It?
- ❌ You’re Australian: Unfortunately, it’s not available in Australia.
- ❌ You’re tall: Taller individuals may struggle to find a comfortable position.
- ❌ You have specific ergonomic needs: The limited adjustability might not suffice.
- ❌ You can spend more: If your budget allows, consider investing in a higher-end chair for superior ergonomics.
