Embark Studios’ free-to-play extraction shooter, Arc Raiders, is undergoing a significant overhaul. The developers have announced that the “Expeditions” mode will be put on hold until early 2027, while Activision is taking a hardline approach to cheating in Call of Duty.
Arc Raiders: Expeditions on Hold for Major Overhaul
Embark Studios has confirmed that Arc Raiders’ fifth Expedition, scheduled to launch next month, will be the last one players see until early 2027. This decision comes after careful consideration of player feedback regarding the mode. “We have been carefully reviewing your feedback on Expeditions, and while we’ve made ongoing improvements along the way, we’ve come to realize that some of the issues you’ve raised, like the tight departure windows, the reward structure, and accessibility for new players, need more than incremental fixes,” Embark stated in a blog post. “They call for bigger changes.”
The fifth Expedition will run from September 8th to 29th, offering three weeks instead of the usual two. A key change is that quest progress resets are now optional, allowing players to continue their existing quest lines if they prefer. However, players who choose to reset their quests will need an alternative way to unlock the Hullcracker Blueprint, which was previously tied to the quest line. Rewards for completing the Expedition include the full Zenith Outfit, mystery rewards, and up to 12 extra stash space (capped at 60 overall). Bonus skill points are capped at 15, with a catch-up system available for players who missed out on earlier Expeditions. Consecutive buffs like XP boosts, Scrappy materials boosts, and repair value increases are now capped at three levels.
During the pause, any earned consecutive buffs will persist. Players who have completed all five Expeditions will have the Zenith Outfit fully unlocked. Caravans will also be reset, with partially completed ones replaced by Ermal Vouchers of equal value, which can be used to purchase items or sold for Coin. Trials mode will undergo a shorter break, ending on September 22nd and returning on October 8th.
Eurogamer’s Arc Raiders review awarded it two out of five stars, noting the rich PvE combat and friendly community but criticizing the use of AI voice generation. Last month, Arc Raiders introduced a feature allowing players to track their playstyle separately for Solo, Duo, and Trio matchmaking pools.
Arc Raiders is available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
Activision Cracks Down on Call of Duty Cheaters
In a bold move against cheating in Call of Duty, Activision has posted footage of one of its legal representatives visiting the Ohio home of Elocarry, a notorious cheat seller, to deliver a cease-and-desist order. The roughly one-minute clip shows a representative pulling up outside a house and handing over paperwork. This action was taken during last weekend’s Modern Warfare 4 closed beta.
Elocarry had reportedly been selling cheat packs for Call of Duty, Rust, and Apex Legends, including a Black Ops 7 and Warzone cheat pack advertised as safe from RICOCHET detection. Following the visit, Elocarry temporarily paused sales of Call of Duty products while an internal review was conducted. Activision claims to have served over 80 cease-and-desist demands, targeted over 375 reseller operations, and shut down over 30 vendors entirely.
The company also used the opportunity to highlight anti-cheat improvements coming to Modern Warfare 4 itself, noting lower infection rates, harder-to-evade hardware bans, and improved response times during the beta. The second beta weekend for Modern Warfare 4 is currently underway and is open to everyone.
Modern Warfare 4 launches on October 23rd on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Switch 2. The full game will include 12 6v6 multiplayer maps, compared to the four available in the beta.
