Today, Sega officially unveiled Crazy Taxi World Tour, confirming the long‑awaited return of the iconic franchise while also revealing that artificial intelligence played a role in its creation.
The launch trailer promises “crazy driving, crazy adventure, and crazy money,” as players follow Axel on a globe‑spanning quest to recover his stolen taxi and confront a mysterious masked villain. The high‑speed escapades will test players with extreme missions that reward them with plenty of in‑game cash.
In a new Steam listing, Sega disclosed its use of generative AI: “At SEGA Corporation, we utilize generative AI as a support tool for developers, aiming to provide better content to our users and enable developers to focus more on creative tasks.”
During the creation of Crazy Taxi: World Tour, the developers disclosed that they employed generative AI tools to streamline certain aspects of the production process. However, they clarified that no AI was involved in shaping the game’s characters or performers.
Fans can look forward to the title launching next year on Windows PC through Steam, as well as on Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, and PlayStation 5.
