“I imagine there are many players who don’t want to let their characters die,” Togawa says. “But as they keep playing battles, the feeling of, ‘Actually, it’s easier if I let this character die’ catches up with them.” This sentiment highlights a key aspect of The Hundred Line: the realization that sacrificing your characters isn’t just an option, but often a necessary and even advantageous strategy.
Beyond Permadeath
Unlike games that feature permadeath, where the loss of a character is permanent, The Hundred Line operates on a different system. Characters who fall in battle are simply revived in the infirmary, ready to rejoin the fight.
