Hold onto your swords, Witchers! Good news is rolling out of CD Projekt Red’s camp today. The studio has officially confirmed that existing save files will be fully compatible with the upcoming remastered edition of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. This means you can pick up right where you left off in Geralt’s epic journey, even after the graphical and gameplay enhancements arrive.
No Need to Start Over!
In a recent post on X/Twitter, CD Projekt addressed fan concerns about save file compatibility. “Good news: your current saves will work with the upgrade, so you can get back on the Path right where you left off,” the studio stated. This is fantastic news for players who may have put The Witcher 3 aside but are eager to dive back in and experience the enhanced version without losing their progress.
For those who haven’t yet experienced everything The Witcher 3 has to offer, the remastered edition provides the perfect opportunity. And remember, the base game now includes access to its two acclaimed expansions, Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine. You’re going to want to tackle those before the highly anticipated third expansion, Songs of the Past, arrives in 2027.
Achievements and Trophies Carry Over
Achievement hunters rejoice! CD Projekt also confirmed that progress toward any achievements or trophies unlocked so far will be tracked and continued in the remastered edition. This ensures that your hard-earned accomplishments aren’t lost when you upgrade to the enhanced version. It’s a welcome confirmation, solidifying the idea that this is more of an update than a complete overhaul.
Last week, CD Projekt Red unveiled The Witcher 3 Remastered, boasting a long list of additional features and technical improvements. These include the highly requested cross-platform mod support, new quest tracking, immersive meditation mechanics, refined animations, UI enhancements, a revamped looting system, and much more. Launching on September 29th, the remastered version will soon become the default offering for The Witcher 3, although there’s also been a slight price increase to reflect the inclusion of its expansions.
