World of Warcraft: Forever Players Turn New Two-Name System Into a Naming Frenzy — Blizzard Steps In

September 24, 2026 · Gamer24H Editorial Team

World of Warcraft: Forever’s highly anticipated beta has drawn a flood of players eager to test the new skyborne MMO, but the mode’s freshly introduced character naming system has quickly become a source of amusement — and embarrassment — for Blizzard. While the two-part forename and surname format was designed to enrich roleplay, a wave of cheeky players has exploited the flexibility to craft deliberately crude character names, prompting the publisher to confirm that its naming policies remain firmly in force and that offenders risk losing their beta access entirely.

The twist on the beloved MMO has been generating buzz since its beta launch, with the expanded naming scheme standing out as one of its most talked-about features. In traditional World of Warcraft, characters carry a single name, meaning a player might simply call their avatar “Eurogamer.” Forever, by contrast, splits identity into a first name and a surname, so the same player could now register “Eurogamer Reader” if they so choose. Blizzard built in a thoughtful touch: randomly generated fantasy names are tailored to align with a character’s race, with the new wind-themed skyborne elves receiving surnames that echo their aerial heritage.

A Naming System Meant for Roleplay, Weaponized for Mischief

On paper, the dual-name structure was a creative boon. On practice, it handed players a blank canvas for the kind of irreverence that has defined gaming communities for decades. Screenshots of the most audacious picks have circulated online ever since the beta opened, with one Reddit user — FarKiwi_4882 — sharing their collection of noteworthy picks, including “Hemorrhoid Man,” “TBCisgone Forthisshit,” and “Bigpeniss Cok.” The thread quickly devolved into a communal roast, with another user, yqozen, responding with the verdict: “Behold the humankind in all its glory,” a sentiment that seemed to land with the crowd.

This is hardly a new phenomenon. Whenever developers grant players the freedom to express themselves, the community has historically been quick to lean into the crude. Games like Spore were long laden with phallic community creations, and Mythic Quest, the TV show built around game development, seized the issue head-on by addressing the “time to penis” problem in one of its episodes. The WoW: Forever beta appears to have simply provided a fresh, officially sanctioned venue for the same age-old urge.

Blizzard Draws the Line

The deluge of naughty names did not go unnoticed by the publisher. One player, who complained about being suspended from the WoW: Forever beta, received an official response on the World of Warcraft forums. Customer support representative Vrakthris confirmed that the World of Warcraft naming policies remain fully in effect within the beta, and that those reported for especially crude names are at risk of having their beta access removed outright.

Blizzard has long relied on player reports to clamp down on such content, and this incident reinforces that approach. The response signals that the beta is not a lawless sandbox — the freedom to name a character “Eurogamer Reader” is welcome, but it does not extend to content that violates the established standards.

Looking Ahead

Whether this becomes a continuous battle for Blizzard to fight when World of Warcraft: Forever launches in November remains to be seen. The publisher’s willingness to enforce its policies suggests it will continue to lean on community reporting to keep the roster in check. Yet, as the collective response to the beta’s naming feature makes clear, the desire to be crude remains a pathologic urge for many players. Unless the community keeps reporting offenders, the mischief is very likely to persist — and the screenshots will keep coming.
