The long-awaited roguelike survival game Warhammer Survivors is set to arrive on PS5 on November 10, the developers announced today alongside a fresh trailer that unveils two new playable champions drawn from across the franchise’s twin universes. The reveal introduces Morvenn Vahl of the Warhammer 40,000 galaxy and her Age of Sigmar counterpart Lyssa Revenya, expanding an already deep roster of heroes who battle endless swarms of enemies across procedurally generated battlefields.

The announcement marks a major milestone in the game’s rollout, with the PS5 release serving as the centerpiece for the title’s broader launch. To celebrate the date, developers unveiled both characters through new gameplay footage that showcases their distinct combat styles, weapon evolutions, and signature abilities—each carefully tailored to reflect the lore-rich worlds they originate from.

A Tale of Two Champions

Fans who have followed the game’s development may have already spotted Morvenn Vahl lurking in its key art, but today’s reveal finally brings her into full pixel-art glory. As one of Warhammer Survivors’ larger characters, Vahl strides across the battlefield within an ornate Paragon Warsuit, wielding the devastating Heavy Bolter Fidelis, which sprays a wide arc of projectiles that obliterates everything in its path.

Beyond her imposing presence, Vahl carries the weight of Imperial lore. Formerly a young Celestian Superior, she was chosen to become High Abbess Sanctorum—the supreme commander of the Adepta Sororitas. Described as an iron-willed warrior who tolerates no fools and certainly no heretics, Vahl grew dissatisfied with commanding from the safety of the Imperium and now spearheads crusades personally, leading from the front against Tyranids, Death Guard Plague Marines, and Orks.

“Fidelis can be evolved to the Purgator Mirabilis, which unlocks the use of the warsuit’s Paragon Missile Launcher, unleashing a sporadic salvo of explosions across the battlefield—in addition to Fidelis’ spray of bolter shells. The weapon also has a chance to trigger a miracle, blessing Vahl and increasing the weapon’s rate of fire.”

The Mortal Realms Answer

If Vahl represents the grim darkness of the far future, Lyssa Revenya brings a lighter, more nimble energy to the Mortal Realms. A skilled thief and tomb-robber originally hailing from Lethis, Lyssa is well-versed in navigating the trap-ridden crypts and catacombs of that morbid city. She has become an integral member of the Saviours of Cinderfall—a rag-tag band of heroes who scoured the streets of Hammerhal and thwarted those plotting the city’s demise.

In Warhammer Survivors, Lyssa repurposes her signature tools for breaking and entering into deadly weapons. Her Rope and Grapnel fires hooks from random edges of the screen, colliding with specific points on the battlefield to damage enemies and drag away any who survive—an ideal kit for a nimble thief who prefers to stay well outside sword range.

“When the Rope and Grapnel evolves, Lyssa communes with the spirit of Rhea, a former ally and mentor. This terrifying, screaming banshee soars across the battlefield, exploding into a vengeful cloud of damaging ghostly fog.”

The developers hinted that skilled players might be able to exploit Lyssa’s kit further, using her Rope and Grapnel to pull enemies toward the Ghost of Rhea’s vengeful uproars—a tactic left to be discovered by the community. While both champions share a connection through the game’s dual-universe design, they offer starkly different approaches: Vahl is a heavily armed frontline juggernaut, while Lyssa favors kiting and battlefield control from a distance.

Looking Ahead

With the PS5 launch now firmly set for November 10, attention turns to how these two additions fit into the game’s broader roster and its ongoing content roadmap. The reveal trailer offers the first extended look at both characters in action, giving players a taste of the weapon evolutions and miracle mechanics that define Warhammer Survivors’ deep progression systems.
