•What happens when you place an AI VTuber, her evil twin, their creator, a cow, an imp, and a monkey in a car in a post-apocalyptic desert and tell them to drive thousands of kilometers? That is the premise behind a marathon stream currently underway, according to a report by Vedal987, the creator of Neuro-Sama and her twin, Evil.
The six participants kicked off their journey on October 12 with The Long Drive, an open-world driving and survival game set in a procedurally generated desert. Each player streams from their own perspective, with Vedal’s channel switching between Neuro, Evil, and himself as they navigate the road trip.
The Long Drive tasks players with scavenging for supplies, maintaining vehicles, managing fuel, and traversing an enormous stretch of road. The destination sits 987km away, taking a proportional amount of real-world time to reach. While the game’s lore-accurate goal is reaching the protagonist’s mother’s house, Neuro and Evil have instead imagined Disneyland as their final stop.
The physics engine proves unpredictably chaotic throughout. The first major casualty arrived before the group had even settled into the journey: Camila became entangled with the car and eventually succumbed to her injuries. Shortly after, Evil died when Camila accidentally dropped a truck on her head.
Vedal then managed to get himself stuck in a well, using the physics to launch himself out before immediately dying from the impact of the fall. Since the expedition began, deaths have piled up: Vedal shot Camila, Crelly died in a car crash, and both Neuro and Evil got stuck in the ground.
The most memorable mishap may have been watching Neuro soar across the sky with no one understanding how it happened. The game’s difficulty compounds when considering how hard it is to find a vehicle accommodating everyone; a makeshift seat has been installed on the roof of the “Neuro Car,” though the twins cannot sit there or the game will break.
At the time of writing, the group is approximately 53% through their trip after three days of streaming roughly 10 hours per day. The desert remains vast and the cars unreliable, but even with wells as the most dangerous obstacle on their route, the chaotic journey continues to unfold.
