Summer 2026 was packed with incredible experiences, from the surprisingly fantastic Minions & Monsters to blockbuster hits like The Odyssey and Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Even August offered gems like Coyote vs. ACME and The End of Oak Street. But now, it’s time to shift our focus from the big screen to the small one.
Fall is brimming with exciting new TV shows, including TV shows like VisionQuest and Crystal Lake, alongside returning favorites such as Scrubs and The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. Scrubs
The early 2000s sitcom Scrubs, a quirky and heartwarming look at the lives of young doctors, made a triumphant return last year after an eight-year hiatus. While some were skeptical about recapturing the original’s charm, most agreed that the revival succeeded admirably. Dr. Cox (John C. McGinley) appointed his former protégé J.D. (Zach Braff) as Chief of Medicine at Sacred Heart Hospital, a move that surprisingly didn’t diminish J.D.’s infectious enthusiasm. The revival also delivered emotional depth, particularly with the revelation of Dr. Cox’s medical condition.
Season 11 of Scrubs premieres on ABC on September 20.
Dig
Not to be confused with Tom Cruise’s upcoming comedy Digger, Dig features Amy Poehler as an archaeologist who uncovers a major secret during a dig in Greece, alongside a team of fellow archaeologists. While details are scarce, the involvement of Mike Schur, co-creator of Poehler’s beloved sitcom Parks and Recreation, makes this show incredibly promising.
Dig premieres on Peacock on November 23.
Crystal Lake
After a long 17-year drought, the iconic horror franchise Friday the 13th is finally returning to the screen. Crystal Lake, from Callum Vinson (It: Welcome to Derry), takes us back to the beginning—or rather, before the beginning. This series tells the story of Pamela Voorhees (Linda Cardellini) as she seeks vengeance for her son’s death at Camp Crystal Lake.
The eight-episode first season of Crystal Lake drops all episodes on Peacock on October 15.
Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone
While many were hesitant about HBO Max’s new Harry Potter series, given the recent films and J.K. Rowling’s controversial views, the sheer talent involved is undeniable. The eight-episode first season premieres on HBO Max on December 15.
South Park season 29
For much of its run, South Park focused on popular culture. However, seasons 27 and 28 took a bold turn, relentlessly satirizing President Donald Trump. While some fans were initially put off by the show’s newfound political focus, many found it hilarious. The show returns for its 29th season on September 16, with semi-weekly releases.
Blade Runner 2099
Following the success of Blade Runner 2049, executive producer Ridley Scott has teamed up with Silka Luisa for the Prime Video series Blade Runner 2099. This eight-episode miniseries offers a unique twist: in this dystopian future, replicants have taken over Los Angeles, and humans are now the oppressed.
All episodes of Blade Runner 2099 drop on November 25.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power season 3
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power delves into the Second Age of Middle-earth, a period thousands of years before the events of Peter Jackson’s films. This season sees Sauron forge the One Ring, setting in motion his plan to conquer all of Middle-earth. Season 3 premieres on Prime Video on November 11.
Carrie
Stephen King’s Carrie has been adapted numerous times, and now prolific director Mike Flanagan brings his signature horror style to the story. Set in modern times, this miniseries explores themes of school shootings and cyber-bullying, adding a chillingly relevant twist to the classic tale. The six-episode series premieres on Prime Video on October 7.
VisionQuest
Following WandaVision, Paul Bettany reprises his role as Vision in VisionQuest. This series explores Vision’s journey to rediscover himself after being reactivated, and features a human version of Ultron residing within his programming. The eight-episode series premieres on Disney Plus on October 28.
Avatar: Seven Havens
Following the success of The Legend of Korra, a new Avatar series, Avatar: Seven Havens, introduces a new generation of benders and explores a fresh chapter in the world of Avatar. The 13-episode first season premieres on October 21, with a second season planned for the future.
