Tifa from Final Fantasy VII Joins Street Fighter 6 as 4th DLC

Tifa Lockhart, one of the most iconic figures in gaming history, is set to make a high‑profile return—this time as a downloadable character in Capcom’s Street Fighter 6, slated for the Year 4 DLC bundle.

The announcement, unveiled at the 2026 Summer Game Fest, quickly became one of the event’s most talked‑about moments, reflecting years of fan demand for Tifa’s debut in a major fighting title.

During the reveal, Capcom’s Naoki Hamaguchi highlighted that Square Enix partnered closely with the studio to craft a fresh rendition of the beloved heroine.

According to the creative lead, Tifa was “redesigned as Tifa the Street Fighter,” a version that preserves the core spirit of Final Fantasy VII’s heroine while seamlessly integrating her into Capcom’s signature combat style.

In addition to the previously announced roster, some elements of its moveset and design will be inspired by various installments of the Final Fantasy series. As of now, specific details about the gameplay have yet to be disclosed.

The arrival of Tifa Lockhart, while not entirely unexpected for attentive followers, did catch some by surprise. A few weeks ago, the renowned leaker Rnk_Clan shared what was supposedly the complete roster for Street Fighter 6’s Year 4 Pass, and among the names listed was Tifa Lockhart herself. Now, it has been confirmed that at least this part of the leak was accurate.

Joining Tifa in the game will be Yasmin, Arjun, and Bosch as new downloadable characters. Capcom has yet to announce a release date for the Final Fantasy VII guest character, but indications point towards her being one of the most significant additions to the game since its debut.

Collaborations are increasingly becoming a staple in the fighting game arena, and Square Enix has been at the forefront of this trend, lending several of its iconic characters to rival franchises over the past few years.

In 2018, Noctis Lucis Caelum stepped into the world of Tekken 7, and more recently, Clive Rosfield made his appearance in Tekken 8 in 2025, showcasing the growing appetite for cross‑franchise encounters.

What’s truly remarkable is that fans of Tekken have long clamored for the inclusion of Tifa Lockhart. Although she won’t be joining the Bandai Namco lineup, she will finally make her debut in one of the most prominent fighting titles on the market.

Meanwhile, Street Fighter 6 continues to surge in popularity. By the end of 2025, Capcom announced that the title had already surpassed six million copies sold, cementing its status as one of the most successful entries in the franchise’s storied history.
