The studio behind iconic titles like The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077, CD Projekt Red, is quietly but steadily building up its workforce for a brand-new project internally known as “Project Hadar.” This news, first reported by GamesRadar, suggests that the company has ambitious plans beyond its already packed development pipeline. According to Karolina Gnas, Vice President of Investor Relations at CD Projekt Red, the team currently working on Hadar consists of over 30 people, with a goal of expanding to around 50 developers by the end of this year.
What is “Project Hadar”?
While details remain scarce, Gnas offered some insight into the project’s current stage. “Right now, the team is mostly focused on testing different approaches, ideas, and prototyping some gameplay elements,” she explained. Crucially, she confirmed that “Hadar is still in the concept phase.” This suggests a long road ahead for the project, but also leaves plenty of room for speculation about its potential genre and scope.
Given CD Projekt Red’s history with both third-person fantasy RPGs (The Witcher) and first-person action RPG shooters (Cyberpunk 2077), it’s difficult to predict what “Project Hadar” will ultimately be. However, the fact that it’s an RPG of some caliber seems like a safe bet.

The announcement of “Project Hadar” comes at a time when CD Projekt Red is already juggling a staggering number of projects. The Witcher 3: Remastered is slated for release this month, and existing owners will receive it as a free upgrade, including compatibility with their old save files your old save files will work. Furthermore, the studio is working on The Witcher 3: Songs of the Past, a new expansion set a decade after the main game; The Witcher 4; a sequel to Cyberpunk 2077; and even a full remake of the original The Witcher.
