The Pokémon Company is no stranger to a little over-hyping every now and then, but its latest bit of marketing has us seriously thinking that there is a big announcement in the pipeline.

You see, TPC is counting down to… something. As brought to our attention by Serebii’s Joe Merrick, the company has been sharing images on social media of its 30th anniversary icons, with a number underneath. Interestingly, these numbers decrease by the number of hours that have passed between each post — 1,025 on 18th October, 843 on 26th, 676 today.

Keeping the countdown going, this means that we’ll hit zero on 30th November at 2pm UTC (thanks for doing the maths there, Joe!). The latest post even came with a full message under the logo, roughly translating to “Continue with Pokémon”.

Hmm. The big question is, what’s this all about? 2pm UTC sure feels like the right time for a big announcement (it’s when most eyes, worldwide, will be on it), and we can’t imagine that TPC would put this much planning into something inconsequential.

What is it, then? Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire were rumoured to be coming to NSO last month, could it be that? Is it time we got another look at Winds and Waves, perhaps with a fire release date attached? Is there another full Pokémon Presents around the corner? Only time will tell, but it sure is an exciting prospect.

We’ll be keeping an eye on the countdown throughout November and will let you know when any major news comes out of it.
