The MongolZ beat world No.1 FURIA to reach the IEM Beijing semi-finals, while NAVI eliminated big-spending Falcons in the group stage. The results reshape the picture of the main contenders before the PGL Major Singapore opens on 24 November.

Against world No.1 FURIA on Wednesday, The MongolZ recovered after dropping the opening map. MOUZ have also booked a semi-final place after going unbeaten in Group B.
The defeat ended a seven-game winning run for FURIA, per HLTV, although the match was not an elimination game. FURIA had not lost since winning PGL Masters Bucharest. They now face BetBoom in the quarter-finals.
The second map, Cache, was FURIA’s own pick, and The MongolZ had lost on that map in each of their previous four attempts. This time they won it, then closed out the series on the third map.
The timing gives the result extra weight. IEM Beijing is ESL’s top-tier CS2 event and the last big tournament before the Major. FURIA are still alive, but the series shows they can be beaten by the sides around them.
NAVI win 12 straight rounds to send Falcons home
Falcons went out in the Group A lower-bracket final. NAVI recovered from a narrow loss on the opening map and dominated the rest of the series. On the Mirage decider, NAVI won all 12 rounds of their T-side half.
w0nderful went 25-4 on Inferno. b1t then took over on Mirage.
For a big-spending organisation, an exit before the playoffs is a setback. Falcons share seventh to eighth place with Team Liquid, and the two teams earn the same amount. That compares with $360,000 for the champions.
Liquid also fell at the final hurdle. BetBoom beat them 2-1 to take the last playoff place in Group B. A zorte ace in round 23 of the Mirage decider swung the series. PARIVISION, who finished behind MOUZ in Group B, meet NAVI in the other quarter-final.
The $1,250,000 prize pool is split into $300,000 in player prize money and $950,000 in club share. The event is being played at the Bloomage Biotech Biohyalux ECM Arena in Beijing. It is listed as an ESL Pro Tour Masters event.
Friday’s quarter-finals open the final run-in to Singapore
The playoffs are single-elimination best-of-three series. A best-of-third-place match will also be played, and the grand final is best-of-five.
