After four years of development, indie studio behind their debut title has announced the game will launch on PlayStation 5 on October 30, 2026. The rhythm-action adventure combines meticulously illustrated visuals inspired by India’s artistic traditions with a bespoke musical system built around a precise timing window that defines how players interact with every beat.

The announcement confirms the exact release date and platform for the highly anticipated title, which has been in development since 2022. Players will follow Ajira on a journey across the island of Suri, a vibrant fantasy world where gameplay, music, and culture intertwine into a single cohesive experience. The game arrives exclusively on PS5, with two editions available for pre-order.

A World Rooted in Indian Artistry

Every environment, character, and animation has been meticulously illustrated to create a distinctive visual identity that sets Suri apart from other titles in the genre. The island itself draws inspiration from the rich artistic and architectural traditions of India, blending influences from Rajput forts, Theyyam culture, Himalayan monasteries, and diverse regional cultures into a world that feels both familiar and original.

Whether players are chasing perfect runs, uncovering hidden paths, mastering every movement ability, or simply taking in the surroundings, Suri brings together gameplay, music, and culture in a world built to be explored. The developers emphasized that just as much thought went into the game’s audio as its visuals, with eighty percent of the music recorded using original analogue instruments rather than synthesised electronically.

The Science Behind 480 Milliseconds

Instrumental to the studio’s journey was making music not just something players heard, but something they mastered. When arriving in the southern part of the island, the game uses a veena instead of a sitar, while desert portions draw on Rajasthan and its musical traditions. This regional authenticity came with an unusual constraint: adapting musical variety to the speed at which human thumbs can move on a controller.

We found the sweet spot: for us, it’s around 480 milliseconds, so we need to maintain a gap of 480 milliseconds between the main beats of the game. This timing allows us to accommodate the fail window around the player’s response without making the interaction feel slow or disconnected.

The studio explained that a longer window could disrupt the spacing, rhythm, and overall mood of the experience, while a shorter one might make the fail state too subtle for players to recognise they have fallen off beat. This balance between responsiveness, rhythmic clarity, and gameplay momentum became what the developers called the craziest and most important concern during development.

An Invented Musical Genre

The team acknowledged that authentic Indian music could not be used directly because of the specific rhythms and timing required by the gameplay. Instead, they created a hybrid structure: taking a hip-hop-like foundation and laying Indian percussion textures over it. The result is described as very bouncy and non-aggressive, with sounds decluttered to bring essential functional beats forward.

The game’s signature Rhythm Haptics Engine was developed in close collaboration with the PlayStation team, ensuring that Suri feels right at home on PS5. The studio noted that their support throughout development was invaluable, particularly while refining the haptic feedback system that lets players feel every beat.

Pre-Order Options and Launch Details

Suri: The Seventh Note launches on October 30, 2026, with two editions available for pre-order now. The Standard Edition includes the base game along with a twenty percent pre-order discount for PlayStation Plus members. The Digital Deluxe Edition adds an exclusive Chandini Skin and DLC, plus three days of early access to the full game.

The studio clarified that the Chandini Skin and DLC will not be available for separate purchase and can only be obtained as part of the Digital Deluxe Edition. Players who decide to purchase the Deluxe edition after launch will still receive both exclusive items.

Growing up, PlayStation games inspired us to dream bigger as developers. To now bring our own game to the platform is something we’re incredibly proud of, and being part of the PlayStation India Hero Project has been a highlight of our journey.

The studio reflected on their years-long effort building the island of Suri, creating its world, music, movement, and rhythm before watching Ajira’s journey take shape from an idea into a finished game. Now counting down to launch, they invite players to choose their edition and prepare to feel every beat when Ajira’s journey begins.
