The new live-action Street Fighter movie has an animated mid-credits scene that introduces veteran rival Sagat and sets up a possible sequel, according to a report by Kotaku.

Now playing in theaters under director Kitao Sakurai’s guidance, the film of Capcom’s fighting game series has viewers sitting through its credits wondering what the crew left at the end.

Everything You Need To Know About Street Fighter’s Post-Credits Scene

Throughout Street Fighter, animated sequences appear only during flashbacks. The mid-credits scene breaks that pattern by using animation to depict a moment after all the street fighting is over: Sagat, who opened the film as Ryu’s final opponent in the first World Warrior tournament, trains angrily while still nursing a grudge over his defeat. M. Bison, Vega, Cammy and Juli show up during the session, presumably to recruit him for their cause of evil doing.

The author assumes the scene was animated because no actor has been cast as Sagat yet—his training grunts don’t appear to carry a credit either—which lets the film confirm that Sagat will make a proper live-action debut in a sequel without committing anyone to Ryu’s rival role.

Street Fighter doesn’t resolve what is ostensibly its main conflict, with Akuma appearing at the last minute and taking over as the main villain from M. Bison. That leaves plenty of room for a follow-up, though it remains a matter of whether the film performs well enough to be greenlit.
