Stranded Deep, the open-world survival crafting game that debuted in Early Access in 2015, is free to play on Steam until 1 p.m. ET Oct. 19, according to a report by gamer24h_polygon. The title has built a strong following over the years, with more than 20K Steam reviews.

In the game, players take on the role of a plane-crash survivor stranded on an island in the Pacific Ocean. You can chop down wood to build huts and other structures, and craft spears, axes, bows, and (somehow) spearguns for hunting fish and giant crabs. Hunting, cooking, and crafting skills level up as you use them.
Unlike many survival games, Stranded Deep has a definitive ending: players must manage their health, hunger, and thirst while avoiding sunstroke long enough to be rescued.
The game holds a Mostly Positive user score on Steam, with 74% of reviews being positive. However, some recent feedback has criticized Stranded Deep for having more bugs than at launch, with one user claiming that two-player local co-op no longer works. When it launched on PS4 and Xbox One in 2020, critics gave it a mediocre average Metacritic score of 65.
Is Stranded Deep getting a sequel?
Last month, Beam Team Jogos announced Stranded Deep 2, with a reveal trailer featuring alligators and murderous hippos. The sequel remains an open-world survival crafting experience but is set in a desert wasteland rather than a remote tropical island.
The game centers on an “endless river world,” where players can uncover new canyons, dunes, and valleys by kayak. It is set to release in Early Access on Steam in 2027.
