Welcome, Rebel Scum (and Imperial sympathizers)! As you delve deeper into the strategic combat of Star Wars: Zero Company, you’re bound to hit a point where you start agonizing over talent choices. Each recruitable operator boasts unique talents that can dramatically impact their effectiveness on the battlefield. The good news? You have considerable flexibility in how you build your squad, as most talents can be swapped out once an operator is recruited.

This guide will break down every available talent, highlight key synergies with each specialization, and offer my personal recommendations for building a truly devastating team. Let’s get started!

Understanding Operator Talents

In Star Wars: Zero Company, operator talents are the key to unlocking their full potential. These passive abilities can range from simple stat boosts to complex tactical maneuvers that can turn the tide of battle. While some talents offer straightforward advantages, others require careful planning and coordination with your team.

Here’s a rundown of all the available talents:

  • Applies 1 stack of vicious (next attack is a crit) to this operator. Once per combat. Guarantees critical hits, maximizing damage output.
  • Taunts the selected enemy. Once per turn. Forces enemies to focus their attacks on the taunting operator, protecting your more vulnerable units.

Building Your Dream Team: Talent Recommendations by Specialization

Now that we’ve covered all the available talents, let’s dive into how to best utilize them for each specialization:

  • Assault: A Life of Labor, Grit. These talents provide a well-rounded stat boost and increased survivability, making Assault operators reliable frontline fighters.
  • Gunslinger: Anticipation, Grit, A Life of Labor. This combination maximizes damage output while providing excellent defensive capabilities.
  • Heavy: Taunt, Grit, Anticipation. Heavy operators excel at drawing enemy fire and absorbing punishment, making these talents a perfect fit.
  • Medic: Anticipation, Espionage, Thievery. Medics need to stay alive to keep your team healed, so prioritize defensive talents like Anticipation. Espionage and Thievery provide valuable support in other areas.
  • Scoundrel: Anticipation, Cold-Blooded. Scoundrels are masters of deception and disruption, making these talents a perfect complement to their skillset.
  • Scout: Anticipation, Sabotage, Espionage, Thievery. Scouts need to be agile and adaptable, so prioritize talents that enhance their mobility and utility.
  • Sharpshooter: Cold-Blooded, The Bigger They Are…. Sharpshooters excel at taking down high-value targets from a distance, making these talents essential for maximizing their effectiveness.
  • Soldier: A Life of Labor, Grit. Soldiers are the backbone of your army, providing reliable firepower and resilience. These talents enhance their overall performance.

Personally, I’ve found that A Life of Labor, Anticipation, and Grit are consistently strong choices for almost any class. A Life of Labor provides a general stat boost that benefits everyone, while Anticipation is arguably one of the most powerful defensive abilities in the game, allowing you to dodge up to three attacks per turn at its highest level. Grit also offers excellent survivability.

Remember to consider the synergies between talents and classes when building your team. For example, Heavy operators benefit greatly from Taunt, Anticipation, or Grit, as these talents allow them to better withstand enemy attacks. Sharpshooters can combine Cold-Blooded with their guaranteed hit ability for devastating single-target damage.

For support-oriented classes like Medic and Scout, prioritize talents that enhance their survivability while still allowing them to perform their primary roles. For example, give a Medic Anticipation to help them avoid damage while reviving fallen comrades, or equip a Scout with Sabotage for a situational but thematic explosive opening.

Experiment with different talent combinations to discover what works best for your playstyle and the challenges you face in Star Wars: Zero Company. With careful planning and strategic talent selection, you can build a truly unstoppable force!
