Tanım
Nightdive Studios is an American video game developer headquartered in Vancouver, Washington, and operates as a subsidiary of Atari SA. The company's core focus is the preservation of older games: it acquires rights to abandonware titles, updates them so they run on modern platforms, and re-releases them through digital distribution services.
Bağlam
Within gaming, game mechanics, engines, platforms and esports, Nightdive fills a niche that few others do. Rather than developing entirely new games, the studio revives titles that would otherwise be lost to time by making them playable on contemporary systems. This work supports the broader effort to preserve older video games for future players.
Örnek
Many of Nightdive's releases use the internally developed KEX Engine, which underpins compatibility updates and re-releases. This in-house engine is a defining technical element of how the studio modernizes older games.
