To mark three decades of Gran Turismo, long billed as “The Real Driving Simulator,” Sony Interactive Entertainment has unveiled a limited-edition DualSense controller for the PlayStation 5 created to celebrate the racing series’ 30th anniversary.

The commemorative peripheral arrives alongside the launch of the game’s massive Spec IV (Part 1) update, offering players new physical hardware and fresh in-game content at once.
Sony describes the limited-edition controller as “crafted to embody the craftsmanship and engineering at the heart of the Gran Turismo series.” It carries a special GT livery with racing stripes and motorsport-inspired graphics—including small bonnet-latch details on the touchpad—plus a textured, carbon-fibre-style front plate that Sony says “mimics high-performance vehicle materials.”
Kazunori Yamauchi, CEO of Polyphony Digital, called the design a tribute to the franchise’s shared journey with its racing community.
“Thirty years ago, Gran Turismo began with a vision to share the beauty and joy of the automobile,” he said. “This commemorative controller celebrates the journey we have shared together, and I am deeply grateful to everyone whose passion continues to inspire us.”

The controller will retail for NZ$149, with pre-orders opening October 22 at 10:00am local time and a global launch scheduled for December 10.

The accompanying Spec IV (Part 1) update is available now and expands the gameplay experience. Its headline addition is the historic Sportsland Sugo circuit, which provides a setting for testing the update’s six new vehicle additions.
The new vehicles include:
- Xiaomi Vision Gran Turismo: A cutting-edge electric hypercar with an aerodynamic design aimed at balancing low drag and high downforce.
- Ferrari F355 Berlinetta ’94: The quintessential 1990s midship sports car, pairing performance with Pininfarina-styled aesthetics.
- Honda Civic Si Group A version ’87: A historic racing machine based on the Mugen Motul Civic, known for its success in the 1987 All-Japan Touring Car Championship.
- Mazda RX-Vision GT3 Evo ’26: An evolved track machine equipped with a 4-rotor engine and advanced technology.
- Honda Step WGN Spada Premium Line ’23: A comfortable, high-end minivan suited to enjoying the scenery in the game’s photo modes.
- Citroën 2 CV 6 Charleston ’86: A classic French vehicle designed to bring a “slower, more deliberate sense of adventure” to any drive.
Beyond the vehicles and circuit, the update adds new events, Car Viewer features, and an Experience mode that Sony says will “deepen the connection between player and machine.”
