Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds has been receiving strong DLC and post-launch support from SEGA, and that is set to continue for another year, beginning today, 3rd November 2026.
A major game update is arriving today, taking the kart racer to version 2.0.0 and marking the start of the game’s official Year Two.
In the video below, SEGA provides a broad overview of what’s being added and improved:
There’s a lot to cover, but the summary version is as follows.
- New mode: Duel mode, a 1v1 race with all-new mechanics
- Can be played competitively or casually, against other players or CPU drivers
- A new Grand Master Plate includes a super slot, which amplifies whichever gadget you place there
- 15 new gadgets added to the game
- Balance adjustments in PvP modes
- World Match has been expanded; Ranked Match is the usual online flerspelarläge, while Free Match is for casual play
- Free Match will not interfere with your rank
- Weekly Play missions have been implemented, rewarding you for completing specific objectives
- New music: SEGA Fighting Beats Infinity. Includes music from various SEGA fighting games
- Other updates, improvements, and bug fixes
- Festivals now last 10 days instead of 3
- Festival winning streaks are now kept even if your team places second
- Can be played competitively or casually, against other players or CPU drivers
- Free Match will not interfere with your rank
The official patch notes are not yet available, but I’ll update the story with the link when possible.
As well as this big free update, Year Two’s first DLC pack also launches today. It brings Godzilla to CrossWorlds, and includes the following:
- Course: Godzilla Escape
- Machines: Godzilla Cruiser, King Ghidorah Coupe, Mothra Surf
- Additional Jukebox music tracks
- Additional sounds
The DLC is included with Season Pass Two, or it can be purchased separately — presumably at the same price as previous DLCs, which are priced at $5.99/£4.99.
